Google, I was searching for Vitriolix and it popped up along with a few others around it.
Well, those drawings were posted on DeviantArt, and the artist actually wrote a description for them. She doesn't explain why Infirmofpurpus caught and "cooked" (obviously he didn't XD) the owl, but the picture is just for lulz so it doesn't really need an explanation.
I'm not sure if the owl can be considered his friend anyway.
The owl became attached to him because he was disguised as a tree and smelled like fish after being in the cauldron (it seems that they decided against fish smell in the cartoon). But why it kept following him after his disguise was removed, I have no idea. In any case, it acts kind of stalkerish.

You can search "Asterix" fanart on that site, maybe you'll find something you didn't see before.
