Couldn't they tell from his nose that he wasn't a Gaul?
Stinkek
Cacofonix has a long nose though

I thought it was some king of stereotype but it seems I was proven wrong. Just saw your hidden message by the way. I thought of that too though

Who made him enlist in the first place?
Stinkek
Who knows...
He is as short as Asterix, which makes me wonder if he doesn't eat enough, or "IT'S FICTION DON'T QUESTION IT"

Also, the way the Romans' legs with sandals were drawn really bothers me because that's unreasonably much detail for a low-budget cartoon. At the same time they reused Asterix's and Obelix's walks a lot. I read AtG was made for TV but in the end they decided to show it in cinemas.

Me and my friend realized something.
The cartoon "Asterix versus Caesar" is based on a few comics, including "Asterix the Legionary" where Vitriolix appears...
They had a chance to add him in the cartoon and they missed it, yet they added the skinny blonde legionary from "Asterix in Corsica".
AndreofHazel
That's a travesty. Romans have a history of enlisting unfit people in their legions by the way.
Stinkek
I guess that explains why there are such small and anxious people there

I'll quote that British guy in "Asterix Versus Caesar"... What he says??

AtG was initially made by Belvision Bruxelles, without Goscinny and Uderzo knowing it.

When they had a watch of it, they not only disliked the fact that they weren't told about it first, and above and beyond, the low quality of animations ( walking cycles indeed ) and the fact that the cartoon was way too close to the comic in terms of camera position, dialogue, etc, making the timing of this 30 minute comic book a boring cartoon overall.
There were 2 more cartoons for Asterix in the making at this time, and Goscinny & Uderzo ordered them to be destroyed.
They later took the ordeal by themselves to produce Asterix cartoons, and Asterix & Cleopatra was the first of these.
