I did notice that in the beta, in the fake village in WCW, Mario will long jump towards you if you are far away from him.

I don't know. It happens so rarely that I haven't found the pattern yet for how the attack is triggered. You have to be a certain distance away from a Mario Roman, enough for them to jump, but not too far either. In my experience it happens more often in the remaster. Could be a complete coincidence.
