Believe it or not, to me the 12 tasks of Asterix are an early from of globe-trotting, Europe-trotting if you'd like. They start at Gaul, go under the Alps in Helvetia when they go inside the cave of the monster and eventually reach Rome. It always made me feel good when I thought about the cartoon like that.
