I would try it on my PC, but that broke, and problem not only with CPU powered. The processor power cut off and took the hard drives with it.

Usually, the temperature of my PC reaches 70 degrees.
I think mine idles at 40c CPU heat... Which is also not good o__o
But with cooling everything is ok.
So, what's the damage like? I take it more than just the cable put their last potato.
