lemme post this cringe again
Herr Epsilon
So, around 2012 when Ubisoft was championing the Wii U for a while, before the console semi-flopped, there were reports about a big Asterix game being developed for Wii U called "Champions of Gaul".
Herr Epsilon
Has anyone ever heard of that again?
PegPeregoGaucho
:NOPE: nope
Feder373
Maybe it was cancelled because developers interpreted the low box office of the movie released that year (On Her Majesty's Service) as people had lost interest in the franchise, so they didn't want to risk having bad sales.
Stinkek
First time I hear about it...
Herr Epsilon
They certainly cancelled it, since Ubisoft never renewed their Asterix license. It's such an obscure thing, that even in here no one heard of it. 😆
Herr Epsilon
Imagine if they had gone into development for real... Ubisoft Montpellier presents Assassin's Creed Teutatis - Now with microtransactions :VitrioThinks:

Asstrick's Creed

Actually I'd love to see a big studio doing another Asterix game :x
Herr Epsilon
Would work though Caesar as Templar master, Getafix as the Assassin's leader

but, well. We all know the dream of Asterix ever returning in a noteworthy way is dead...
Noxus94
It's just being kept alive artifically at this point
Herr Epsilon
The more I think about it, Ubisoft should probably make a Celtic-themed AC.
Herr Epsilon
Far more sensible than Vikings...

Well, I think the franchise has somewhat made a comeback since 2013. The start of the 2010s seemed like there was no hope, Uderzo retired and people assumed there will be no more albums, no more videogames, and the movie released in 2012 was a flop, so it was decided there wouldn't be more real-image films. Then we got Asterix and the Picts in 2013, which was considered a success and confirmed there could be successors to the original authors (yeah, it's not like Goscinny, but still better than Uderzo's last entries), Mansions of the Gods movie in 2014, another success, and then the reboot of the XXL series and Secret of the Magic Potion, which was even more successful than Mansions, which prompted the decision to make another movie with Asterix going to China, releasing next year. Heck, they even brought back The Gold Menhir audiobook from 1967, which no one knew about, into an album. Those are signs that the franchise isn't dying anytime soon.

Speaking of Uderzo, the Golden Book had a story where the Romans tried to trick the villagers into drinking wine with laxatives, and Getafix tricked the centurions instead... What the fuck, I didn't need to see toilet humor in this franchise.

What the fuck, I didn't need to see toilet humor in this franchise. @Stinkek The interesting thing about this album is that the Centurions of the four camps are previously seen centurions (I can recognize the centurion from "Asterix at the Olympic Games", despite the fact that in that album Cesar named him as Tribune, and the Centurion from "The Soothsayer")
