It was built with dynamic framerate to accomodate for all the lag that would ensue

The game targets 20FPS in general, but tips below 14 in massive moments. Give the CPU extra speed and you'll get all the frames you want with only few issues.

The only unplayable mission with overclock is Helmet Hoarding. With OC, AI romans tend to sand still, so they won't exit their tents.

Anyway here's my new screenshot record

Amazing boar spawn rng, I even took a hit.

Unfortunately, PC version of MM is capped at 30fps. Was probably done to avoid the issues PS1 version gets when running too many frames?
Martyste Tendertail
This is the only PS1 game in my library that has this luxury.

I have a PS1/PC game, also from 2001, the PC version of which is capped at 30 FPS as well

Meanwhile some casual PC games from mid 2000's don't have any cap, possibly running at 1k+ FPS, which makes my normally quiet PC make a pretty audible noise

Lemme guess, unlimited FPS again? I have headphones on and I still heard my PC buzzing.
(I opened the exe file of a minigame in Asterix: Searching for the Black Gold)

I found out some childhood games of mine from early 2000's used the same technique

The files are also extremely lightweight (from ~170 to ~300 kb), making up a total of less than 3 mb
Martyste Tendertail
I might be the first person to reach that score ever

The purpose of the mini-game is completely cheesed by finding the perfect angle to spam any opposing catapult to literally spawn-kill its projectiles
