Is Prolix an Edgy Bastard as well?
IDK. He acts all mysterious and creepy around the Gauls, and "reading" animals is icky, but when the Romans capture him he changes drastically
Maybe what I should have asked is why AatBF is an edgy bastard.
My reasons for this:
- the thunderstorm, combined with Prolix's entrance and terrified villagers
- Prolix being creepy in general
- the centurion being more aggressive than in the other cartoons he starred in, sending the same four legionaries in the forest 3 times (didn't he have anyone better to send other than the optio? he actually sent him afterwards though), shaking Infirmofpurpus and yelling at him at the same time and ordering to boil him
- Infirmofpurpus abuse...?
- some small legionary trying to bite Getafix's foot, being happy to take part in boiling Infirmofpurpus and poking one of his comrades in the butt with a pilum
- Obelix throwing menhirs at Getafix and at Prolix
Most memes with with this template I've seen don't really make any sense
Damn, I've only seen the film once so some of those details didn't stick with me. It truly was edgy af. Maybe the centurion went through a stressful period between the films resulting in him being more volatile. From every other Asterix film I've seen so far, I think it's safe to say that this just might be the darkest of them all.
The same meme with the legionaries made sense to me by the way :Ρ
There are mostly legionaries, but there are also an optio, a civilian who'd team up with the Gauls, an architect and two centurions (well, I think that skinny guy who keeps sliding on the slippery floor is a centurion)
... Okay, maybe not MOSTLY legionaries.
You need to make an updated version of it that includes Romans from the Secret of the Magic Potion at some point.
IDK how that would work, the template has only 9 spaces and I'd have to replace a few characters. I can think of 4 Romans who stand out in AtSotMP.
Perhaps a new meme format is in order then? :Ρ
I was rereading about AatBF here, and I think "Asterix Versus Caesar" is the darkest cartoon. A semi-realistic Gaulish couple - Panacea and Tragicomix - gets kidnapped by Romans, one Roman grabs Panacea and tries to kiss her, the Gaulish couple escapes into the desert and later they are sold as slaves, Asterix nearly drowns, Dogmatix ends up in the sewer while trying to get the gourd of magic potion... Yeah.
