The 1000 fight is pretty easy without twister, Only 10 centurions and 40 big legionnaires and after that just 950 small romans

The 1500 fight is: 500 Centurions 250 Lions 600 Small Legionnaires (after 250 lions) 150 Big Legionnaires (after 250 lions)

I agree with the 1000 romans, except when some romans push others too close to you, or when they spawn close to you too fast...
