Hm, I only own XXL2 on PS2 and to be honest, I don't think it's that interesting to speedrun as XXL1. But maybe I will try it someday

I think the best way to deal with the lions is to run straight for the first log, push it until the lions hit you, then beat the lions and hit the gladiator once to stun him, push the first and the second log to the second line and then push the stone. Most of the time the second lion spawn won't interupt you anymore
and the gladiator is too slow anyway
