For me the left / right worked for my GC controller plugged into a Mayflash adapter.
Left stick is working, but it's not same for the right stick
So I bound that to keyboard end set up Up / down on my stick to work by making macros

Maybe it's something wrong developed when the game was made...
Might have something to do with modern hardware / software and the game
The right joystick never fully worked for me either.
Grab a program like Joy2Key
And bind your cam controls to keyboard letters, bind these letters to your controller in Joy2Key ( pressing a button highlights it ), and then put these keyboard controls in XXL
XXL can mix Joy and Keyboard controls, which is nice because OG can't
OG's a feal fuck up: either you go full keyboard ( and bind all that crap with Joy2Key but will still read keyboard buttons in game, not good if you don't know your combinaisons in the Games ), or you select the X360 preset that CANNOT be edited.
In short, have an X360 controller or Die trying
