The game is supposed to load the world map in that precise moment, too.
On PS2, you can even see the loading bar on the bottom.

not sure why the old splitter didn't take care of it
but I just tested it with the new splitter and it seems to take that into consideration (however I couldn't really test it in all extent because my HDDs and SSDs are too fast :D)
