We argued that it could be because you cut the corners too much on the bridge over the water to get to this area after existing the library. It seems to be what causes Obelix to stay there.

Also all you did was to add unnecessary extra steps to our best idea to get this already... Our current stand is "walk as right as possible and make sure to be in a leftwards movement when you switch to Obelix", which is exactly what you did. Triggering the spy from that far to the right or spacing out while doing so is just unneeded extra

Thing just is that nobody ever tested if walking left during the switch while close to the right wall works (almost) every time. And as I said, I can't

I tested that (with a dash to the left), and it's not 100% consistent in my resolution, and even much less consistent in any smaller resolution
