When you assign a button to "global hotkeys", Livesplit will glow Red or Green in your taskbar depending on its activation.
Make sure you press your key to make it green to make Livesplit able to be controlled while out of focus.

I think I had to add the patch as an exception to the antivirus before, or was it the Unfair XXL mod? I don't remember.
What antivirus do you have? Can you shut it off for long enough to install the patch and play? My free version of Avast has several options, including "disable until PC reboot"
Implying they don't have a bad reputation for Cyberpunk already
