I saw that on my old PC the spy's speeches would start a bit later than they should, and I couldn't skip until they'd start. If I triggered the same speeches in the same playing session this wouldn't happen.

Because you are doing it wrong. You have to make a double jump from the edge of this "rock ledge" like Failentin said. Btw it doesn't kill your run completly, because you can repeat this trick as many times as you want. Just remember that every time you fail, you have to go back to this line.
