It's mostly inspired by canine and bovine animals, though the original version of the species didn't have horns, hooves on hind legs or multicoloured tails. Terms "mammal" and "original" don't go well together but I didn't want to make something complicated either otherwise I wouldn't want to draw it.

I won't say what it was but apparently the fad was back in 2009 and I learned about it only in 2011 (also when I joined DeviantArt, I was 13)

Well, that was the big time for simple SM64 hacks and machinimas. Then Star Road released in 2011, followed by more and more advanced projects and hacks, eventually leaving Mario recolors in the dust.
