I got a feeling that a lot is lost in translation tbh
Altough, all the live actions have to me their somewhat cringe moments.
What is fun, in mission Cleopatra our voice actors "remade" some jokes, to fit to some situations which happend in our country (idk if you know what i mean xd)
Or maybe it's how controvercial making a cartoon property into real life is and the other way around
I was the same way, I always found it easy to enjoy animation, but with live-action I tend to be overly critical. But over time I found a cinematic language in live-action films that I was able to appreciate more.
The funny thing is, I actually think Deux Romains en Gaule is the best Asterix live action film, even if it's just a low-budget spin-off
The oldest one, right? I've yet to watch it one day.
Is there an English translation for it?
These Gauls are over-human, we've never seen them bleeding. Though, it's still strange because in Caesar's Laurels album, Asterix says magic potion does not protect from wounds, so they must be careful.
Obelix often does take huge hits to the heads with no damage
He also ate the poisoned boar with no effects in the Banquet comic
And if you think about it, no matter how strong you are, punching through metal armor would not be very pleasant
Maybe it's like punching trough mattress in their case?
The potion does give resistance to some degree
It depends on what the potion actually does
