I think the ideal would be to see when the CPU controlled played is more effective than the real 2 player. Remember, you can switch between modes at any moment from the pause menu.
Especially since Obelix's JCB ( Jump, Charge, Bash cycle ) is slower than Asterix's
Like, in Gaul chapter, you don't need to control Obelix before finding the first boar, but afterwards if the distance allows it you might want to send Obelix to take down the boar on the right, then on the meantime get Asterix to bash the 3 remaining ones from the potion's position.
the real second player is better in colorful Romans ( especially ), fight with them ( lock ) and when you throw them to the one shield
but it's much easier to move with one player, the game is on a technological level that still doesn't divide the screen and you will just "pull" when one of you will go beyond the screen
Yeah, that's the difficulty of 2P mode... in real time, you never know exactly when you can get annoyed by the invisible rope.
