I think your mentality plays a big role in it, if you just want to get through you will try to exploit it, but if those don't work you give up. If you at least skip then you make progress, even if that is boring

Rome in general could be an issue if you'd go for a passive lock opportunity there you'll have an extremely hard time with all the new stuff going on in that level, a possible passive lock can break absolutely everything
