See, Dolphin comes with a force 16:9 hack
that makes stuff and skybox cull on the sides.
But I found a value that fixes this, as long as the fov is not being dynamically changed.

I'm currently watching a Let's Play of the GBA version of XXL, and damn, it's so impressive.
I'm really surprised the developers managed to put such a good looking 3D game on such a small device, with most of the Roman types of the PC version, all five countries and even the slides. Especially Egypt looks amazing. It really has much more of an XXL feeling to it than XXL3 ^^ Only thing that seems awful is that if you die, you have to restart from the very beginning of the stage, when there are plenty of pretty unfair platforming challenges in every level which make you die immediately if you fail them. This must be hell without savestates ^^

in XXL 2 DS there are bosses
XXL2 DS sucks in really every way. XXL3 can't be worse than THAT.
The bosses were awful though
talking about bosses, what boss do you imagine for XXL 1 Gba (if there was), War Machine or other ?
Hm, I can't really think how they could have implemented boss fights in the GBA version... A war machine would have been nice, but impossible to include, I guess.
Yeah, it was already a huge thing to add roman formations.
