I have Avira Antivir. I have no problems with it since I know how to use it properly.
Well, whaddaya know, my Windows 10 just wouldn't shut up about having to be updated, so I let it do so, and I also ran into dropped framerate after the update. I already know what I need to do, I just hope it works.
Update: works like a charm
The update also deleted Daemon Tools which was apparently outdated, so I had to download a new version

bruh you could just pause the updates and windows wouldnt update anything
I delayed and froze all updates, later an option appeared where I could reboot my PC and update but I didn't use it. Eventually Windows would just start shoving a message in my face and I could only delay it for an hour before it would pop up again.
IIRC I hadn't updated it since I got it, which was in summer last year
Yeah it just gets worse and worse, to the point where the update is just there waiting for you to turn off or restart to install.
I'm seriously considering getting a Windows 7 x64 for an old PC someday for all my legacy games.
Whether you get a legit one or install a VM, good luck. I couldn't get some childhood games to work in emulated 98 and XP, or some worked with issues.
Are the models for baba and the other pirates still in the game or were they completely unused?
You mean the pirate models used for that gallery picture? If the intent was to only feature them on that, i doubt we'd see anything else belonging to them in the files.

The vertical slice had enemy variations in fact so I assume it was intended at some point, but then scrapped
the only way of knowing would probably be to ask a dev at ELB who worked at the game tho i highly assume that even they wouldn't know about it anymore
How many soundtracks have the "main theme" hidden within them in some way?
I believe a lot, and i do mean a lot, even stuff like, the hard normandy fight and egypt fights, have it embedded within a secondary tune but idk if im just looking too hard into it-
