I like it though, I'm not a fan of soundtracks where there's a "main theme" and then the other tracks are just stand-alone pieces. The reason why it's called a "theme" is because the music is supposed to settle around it.

Yup, and I think it's also called a Leitmotiv for that reason.

The leitmotiv is the musical phrase in its unarranged form - the main theme is usually already an arrangement of the leitmotiv, although a plain one (plain meaning that the leitmotiv is in the foreground and easily audible, where it's presented in its best light, without alterations or too many distracting ornaments - like in XXL 2 where the main theme is really clean, big and orchestral).
