I‘m still for option 1 because of the ideology behind speedrunning; even though it‘s much more of a hassle for people trying to get runs in. However I don‘t want my vote to count as I‘m not an active XXL1 runner (yet) and thus want the ACTUAL runners to decide on that ruling. I‘m interested in the result though 😃

And if I had to clarify that point a little bit more: The idea behind speedrunning is to play a game as fast as you can with different goals/categories. This means that every CASUAL player should be able to start up his console/pc and *technically* have the possibility to reproduce all of the skips/glitches without any modifications to the game/files/system. There are obviously some exceptions to that like compatibility patches (take our anti DRM as an example) and some input/control patches (like in the older GTAs).

And that‘s where this ideology would get conflicted because of the usage of external tools to achieve something that‘s **not** possible without cheats

I don't remember if you Teefy or another person answered to that, but do you think it's possible to manipulate a file in order to change some parts of the game (not noticeable by a human), in order to affect the final time ? I mean something like RNG manipulations for some parts. I'm not in the technical part, so I can't tell if it's possible to do such a thing. But if something like this is possible, or "potentially possible", I think the second choice is not an option.

but that would be really obvious. However I don't know how much time the mods spend into the verification for the XXL games when going through submissions

If every run is fully watched at normal speed that shouldn't be a problem because it would be too obvious

I don't think so but I would need to investigate time to that again. Didn't fiddle around with the save files since we were trying stuff out like 8 months ago or something like that

I guess most of the boxes have static drops but there might be some where the content's changing based on the ticks that passed since the game loaded
