You know what they did with the speedruns of the game I ran into that issue? They actually allowed it and they also allowed rebinding your action keys to your scrollwheel. Now the thing is, one of the biggest glitches in that game is airwalking. You basically boost yourself up a ladder by pause buffering and then use an ingame move called focusing where your character starts making an animation that you're able to cancel instantly. That being said I really enjoyed the game and wanted to make speedruns on it but forfeited because they had such dickheads in their community (especially in the mod scene) that all used logitech mices with that feature. Logitech owns the patent for it which is why you can't find it other official mices
Now if I wanted to participate on the leaderboards I would have needed to turn my mice upside down while rolling it up and down my mousepad
and at the same time use a wireless mouse with my foot to be able to control my movement during the airwalk
I mean wtf.... How is such a ruleset fair for any player that doesn't own a logitech mouse with this feature? o.O
Now the other thing is: They only consist of around 12-15 runners (in total; not even active ones) and they still didn't think anything was wrong with that when I asked them about it
They just said: "Well, pretty much all of the runners except for the last ones use a freescroll mice, we don't see why we should ban it for this game. You're technically able to do it without one which should be fine"
And I was like: Alright, fuck it. I'm not going to destroy a mouse for a game I'd like to speedrun and I'm certainly not going to buy a logitech mouse just for that
The only match to that would be your two fingers sliding on a touch pad.
you don't even reach the amount of inputs with a touchpad where it would send like 10 inputs for 1 px of movement
I can teach you how to get good mashing though if ya'll want.
Trust me when i accidentaly use in on MC or TF2 it scrolls just as fast as what you showed XD
freescrolling mice can input up to 30k inputs a second
And yeah, no free scroll for a game that doesn't even support mice dude.
yeah just wanted to make sure we never EVER would allow such a thing
that would literally be the only reason why I would ever quit our nice community 😄
