To get rid of the x4 lock at the catapult, abuse Obelix and dogmatix to stun romans so you can grab them and eliminate them without ever punching.
Also, I just found out that with a bit of luck, one may not bash ANY romans after that x4 lock in Normandy
Making the Normandy minimum casualties stand at:
1 donut tortoise
40 Vikings
4 regular romans.
Not counting whoever the partner Gaul may or may not kill on his own.
