they even had dynamic developing features like you can see with Unity nowadays

were the environments in the KAL editor rendered by renderware?

Yeah, KAL was truly amazing... but I think that its code needs a better rehaul to be used for modern graphics and textures. It clearly had trouble with XXL 2 2018
Luckily no more Asterix games besides remasters will use KAL engine.
They only stayed true to the KAL formats
It still uses KAL for game logic. Graphics and audio which was formely done by Renderware is now done with OEngine. My best theory.
As Renderware is old and not supported anymore, they didn't have enough choice.

the logic goes through their own engine, nothing related to KAL
it reads the original LVL files from the original soo.... there needs to be some KAL thing in there

i doubt OEngine reads the KAL formats
I'm really sure mat told me about some "kal HD" in their development. We might need him to confirm that again...
