Looks like a browser bug that could be caused by the browser itself or a plugin. Because if I change the background of it manually (lighter grey in my example), it displays the rest of the elements the same:

They also just might have fucked it up as Google is usually rolling out new updates to a few clients only while recording user behaviour on it. If a lot of people that received the new design/layout aren't behaving the same way (they quit YouTube, don't watch videos, etc) they roll the update back and treat it as a failed rollout.

Maybe they are testing this feature then, I doubt it's a bug in the browser or a plugin. This is definitely a failed rollout tho, I can hear my pc fans speeding up whenever I play a video because of these goddamn effects :Obelul:
