also trying to adjust a texture on UV islands is such a pain in the ass you need darkness in one area but on another area the darkness pops up the seam of texture and its frustrating

about the specularity, i think it has something to do with the normals not being imported/exported

all materials with specularity have normals, others dont

but when you import a dff maybe dragonff does not save the normal information
