I just realized that 2 player increases the amount of enemies
I have to look at how ridiculous level 2 and level 4 are

Oh wow. That's why this section is such a drag on single player. You're meant to literally steamroll through everything
All in all, two player mode seems to add more enemies, change the points thresholds of the bonus minigames, and add these golden gaul helmets for mutual invincibility
Though the "add more enemies" part is a bit wonky, as some sections have the same amount of enemies than normal
Some of the hard survival parts of the game are about the same while other have more enemies
I would love to play that mode, but I don't think anything super cool can be done without save-states.
If both players are prepared, maybe a no death run, but that's it.

I'll do either 4 or 3 next. Those seem to be the other really hard ones (level 2 may also be hard, but it's less clear to me rn)
