Hello
I recently wanted to download the Widescreen patch for XXL2 (the original, not the remaster), but no matter what source I downloaded from, my antivirus always detected the mod file as a Trojan. I know that antivirus is not always accurate and sometimes detects non-existing viruses, but in this case I have a lot of doubts. Is anyone able to confirm that the Widescreen patch is 100% safe and virus free?
I may be missing something, but the question is a bit weird to me:
- If you trust the people in this discord, then, I guess it's fine.
- If you don't trust 'em (and you have the right to!), it's weird to ask 'em if they are trustworthy...
I may be misinterpreting stuff though
Hey, yeah, since it's a modified file, virus detections give false alarms. We're all playing on this patch, too, and it comes from a trustworthy community member. Any download source should be fine, but if you want to go extra sure, download it from here:
https://www.speedrun.com/aandomlv/resources/acmee
To be fair, it makes a difference whether you download something from a random website without knowing the people behind it, or whether you get it from a server where you can ask for experiences with it
I guess so. I thought JJ talked about downloading it from this discord server. My bad. Never mentioned it...
link from speedrun.com is basically the same link as in discord
But imo, if you have downloaded anything from any random website, it may already be too late, despite any antivirus ^^
in general maybe, but I dont think there are many websites out there distributing malware gamemodules x)
One's enough, if you're unlucky ^^
Anyways, I guess it's not the case for xxl
just stay away from Pyramidensurfer software
