to me it has always meant "teamspeak"
no clue really whether lutris is better for anything than something else, but it can run games both using Proton and Wine (and a bunch of native linux solutions too for a good measure
Basically Lutris is not an analogue for Proton, it is something that has an UI and simplifies installation of multiple essential stuff for virtually any windows game to work on linux.
It uses protontricks to install stuff such as vcredist, .net and other libraries necessary. Then it will be installed to any game prefix automagically, so proton/wine will catch that too.
Roughly this allows the game/app to work under linux. And all that with a few clicks and almost fully automatically.
1. Pick whether the game is installed already (unpacked files as if it was installed in windows) or it is installer of the game itself
2. Next pick paths to the game and where compatibility layer should save "prefix" for the game (prefix holds folder structure similar to windows and has mentioned libraries "installed" too
3. At the very end you can tweak settings you think necessary in your exact case. Change proton to wine, pick a version, choose whether to use DXVK libraries or not, and a lot, like A LOT of various stuff can be configured on this step (which can be reconfigured any time after setup is finished).
As simple as that
I may have explained it a bit vague, not in the best condition I am at the moment, but I think all the bases are covered, correct me if I'm wrong
With the amount of guides out there - I doubt it's any harder than windows these days.
Windows drops legacy support here and there, breaks stuff and causes issues fixing which can easily take a month or two. All for the glory of AI.
Modern linux is pretty much plug and play.
Well, my only experience was with SteamOS and alikes, such as Bazzite(based on Fedora) and ChymeraOS.
For those I can easily say they're ready for the end-user, even not the brightest one.
hello, i have practiced the any% run and a couple of skips in the past week and i wanna start doing my first recorded/streamed runs - i have a couple of questions:
- Load Removed Time is the LiveSplit timing i get from using the autospliter right?
- for RTA, is adding a separate livesplit realtime timer sufficient?
- and in game time is the displayed time in game time of the save file after the last boss fight right?
im still getting used to the meteor shower + toilet skips, and if failed, you cant just exit and enter the game and retry the skip - is it allowed to save the game during the run, exit and load the save file to retry them? im talking about the following save points:
- right at the entrance of WCW before the cutscene is playing
- the save point after larry skip, before entering pirate island
Hello!
- Yes, Load Removed Time is done with the autosplitter, just make sure to change Livesplit settings to "Compare Against Game Time".
- After finishing the run, you can see RTA in "Edit Splits" under "Real Time".
- Yes, in-game time is shown in the save file (but you can also submit runs without RTA and in-game time, they're not very important).
Saving and reloading a save file after failed menhir rain glitches is allowed. Just using the chapters feature for a reload is not permitted.
alright, thank you very much!!
