What happens if you re-enter an already defeated boss?

Because I wonder, what happens if you defeat the same boss more than once? Does the game act always like a boss is defeated the first time, or does it mark the next boss unintentionally as "defeated" as well?

The door is supposed to be replaced, but is still closed.

And there is no trigger. But you can always load the level (with cheattool).
