StinkekCleopatra, Britain and Olympic Games have at least 2 works based on each of them 🤷‍♀️
StinkekAt least it's not The Falling Sky or The Secret Weapon
StinkekBig Fight doesn't have a proper animated adaption. Belvision (Asterix the Gaul, Asterix and Cleopatra) wanted to animate it, but their work was scrapped by Goscinny and Uderzo. The namesake (not in French or German) animated film is mainly based on Soothsayer, the only things it takes from Big Fight is Getafix being hit with a menhir and getting amnesia, and a legionary spying on the Gauls and being used for potion testing. There's a 4D Parc Asterix animated short loosely based on Big Fight alone, but it's just Getafix's amnesia and an unlucky Roman spy again (and they made new Roman characters, including the spy). Nothing from the actual Big Fight again.
StinkekAs for why this comic specifically, I don't have many guesses. Something tells me they won't base the series on this comic alone.
StinkekIf it's gonna be shown internationally then I hope they won't put any cheap gross jokes, and, from what I've heard about Netflix, they better not change characters in sudden way
Herr EpsilonAll the Asterix films have been altered heavily compared to the comics (apart from Gaul which took the book as a storyboard basically). There's a reason why they mixed it with the Soothsayer in the first adaptation - it just wouldn't fill an 80 minute movie by itself. Let alone a series. To be honest, an amusement park ride is the right framework for the story imo. As for the repeated movie adaptation of Britain and Cleopatra - I would have preferred something new, but it is somewhat justified due to the broad scope of the story as a traveling adventure. Big Fight would mean another village adventure... Here are some stories that I would have liked to see in a series format: - Golden Sickle (being almost a detective story it would have worked great episodically and could have been easily expanded - plus: they could have reused Lutetia from the Dogmatix series) - Tour de France a.k.a. Banquet (one location per episode) - Chieftain's Shield (another detective story) - Spain, Switzerland or Corsica - Laurel Wreath (I love them trying to find a way into Caesar's palace undercover - always thought it would have made for a good video game section as well) - Black Gold (probably the best traveling adventure to turn into a movie - it has several locations, high stakes and a dedicated villain)
Herr EpsilonI hope so too...
Herr EpsilonOh no, I just had a thought: They're going to use the chieftain's battle storyline to partially make it a Game of Thrones parody to appeal to American audiences.
Herr Epsilon:WutFace:
Herr EpsilonHey, @Stinkek Why don't you do some training, keep an eye on this project, find out at which studio it's going to be produced and apply for character animator. It's your once in a lifetime chance to make official Infirmofpurpus art 👍 (😉)
StinkekI don't think my ship and kink portfolio would convince them :TotalKappa:
StinkekAlso, I would've been able to animate only storyboards, the actual series will be in 3D and I have zero knowledge in working with character models
Stinkek- So one of the people working in the series is a Russian woman named Julia... - Hmmm... - She is known on the Web as Stinkek- - OH GOD
Feder373@Herr Epsilon On the other hand, I think these comics' plots would combine well into movies: - Golden Sickle & Goths: after getting the sickle, Getafix goes to the druid contest and gets kidnapped by the Goths. - Chieftain's Shield & Belgium: chief goes to Belgium, where he gets ill from eating too much, forcing him to go to balnearium in Gaul & follow that story. He also thinks the shield will help him win the contest with the Belgians. They return to Belgium where the story ends. - Cauldron & Roman Agent: both involve Asterix being marginalized by the villagers, so I think joining these would give even more intensity to that concept. - Big Fight & Caesar's Gift: both involve the Chieftain's authority being challenged, would intensify that threat. - Obelix & Co. & The Secret Weapon: Ceasar combines the strategy of controlling the gauls with speculative capitalism with sending women as legionaries, since he realizes the first plot is too expensive and Asterix didn't fall in the trap. - Asterix & Son & The Roman Actress: both involve a threat against Caesar, and would be funny seeing A & O's mothers questioning their ability to take care of a baby when they don't even know how to treat with women properly. - Black Gold & All at Sea. The rest would deserve their own movie.
StinkekOkay, the "spy" in Attention Menhir is not a spy, he got catapulted to the village by accident. He seems to have a completely different personality also. Not afraid of the Gauls except when held by Obelix.
StinkekThe comic had colorings like these
Stinkek
StinkekNow this is a 1989 film reference?
StinkekI see meme potential in this
AdrienTDObelix knows what he is doing 😏
