Thanks. It is quite simplistic, but imagine what we could do now with the modding progress.
The possibilities are endless.
As early as my teen years I've always wondered what a true 3rd XXL would look like, if given a close to XXL1 approach.
My best idea was to take another slice of inspiration from the animated movie "Asterix Conquers America" ( from which the village in flames and population captured was borrowed already ) and make the two gauls explore the wild Americas.
The only issue with that is that in the roman times, there wasn't alot of civilisation to see on the continent, and mostly wilderness.
But who's to say we can't come up with an interesting plot?
A mod requires modellers, level designers, programmers and story writers. Hopefully if any full fledged mod is to be made, we'll find motivated peeps to fill those seats :p
If not the Americas, we could find a reason to make our gauls trek eastern europe, middle east, syberia, india and even china, they all foster some form of civilisation in their time.
Or go crazy and make a druid potion experiment go wrong and send the heroes through time in the middle ages or something XD
If only we had our hands on the development documents of the 50% of unused levels, creating those would have been cool too...

The mayans, the mexicas, built great cities in the center, the incas with many, many damn cities all interconnected in the south
The great crossing did a lame job by going north to what essentially were tiny hunter gatherer tribes
