| Mr.Rubinshtein | otherwise Failentin would get a WR for UXXL as well |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | |
| PegPeregoGaucho | Don't forget the UXXL rally |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | oh right |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | by those calculations i think schmeling is the true WR holder |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | following the rest participants |
| JenjenParibou | I have a reverse speedrun WR, it took me an entire summer to complete the game |
| Failentin | Hey, I'm not procrastinating either when it comes to speedruns ;) |
| Failentin | Setting my priorities right as always |
| Mr.Rubinshtein | lol |
| AdrienTD | I remember when I made the very first version of XXL Editor, I could visualize the collisions, and noticed that in the Olympic Village entrance there is collision on the bush behind the rotatable mirror. The collision is normally there to clip the reflected light from the mirror, but as it works like any kind of collision you can walk on it! |
| AdrienTD | And for this I also had to use a trick to slide from the crates to get a boost to reach higher areas, which is inspired from the trick used in XXL2 speedruns. |
| AdrienTD | I also remember Alexinho.k who also found some skips at the time, such as some where if you position Asterix correctly, Obelix will walk an entire stair alone, bypassing some triggers, since the game only checks for collisions with Asterix in 1P, then you switch to Obelix and that way you can easily skip a lot of cutscenes in the game. |
| AdrienTD | Then I found out that you can skip the main triggers of the game, by making Obelix slide in the air, pause the game, go to 2P mode then immediately back to 1P mode, which lets you switch to Asterix even when the game wouldn't let you do it. Then Obelix will continue his slide bypassing the triggers. |
| AdrienTD | Now I wonder if there might be more skips in the game. I was once playing the first Gaul Forest level randomly in 2P, both Asterix and Obelix were far from each other, and for some reason Obelix was able to bypass a trigger without triggering it. I don't really remember what I did. Also I heard someone in the comments of my speedrun video that there was a way to skip the cutscene with the Greek and his pigeons, but he doesn't remember anymore 🤷 |
| AdrienTD | This was the history of Asterix at the Olympic Games speedrunning. |
| JenjenParibou | Man, this is far more complicated than I thought it would be |
| JenjenParibou | Really need to try speedrunning that game, just for fun |
| PegPeregoGaucho | Oh wow, first time I saw this
And there are no infinite walls separating these two areas as well! |
