Ps1 version of Gallic War seems to lack some content, unless the emulation screwed up
Like the result screen at the end of a level.
I updated Visual C++ files.
Gallic War's program for changing graphic settings stopped displaying any settings. I launched the game. It skipped the videos and went straight to menu. 3D levels were unaffected, while opening strategy crashed the game.
I enabled Compatibility mode and chose Windows 98/ME. Graphic settings came back, and strategy started working again.
🤔
I haven't tried the previous (English) copy of Gallic War here, could it depend on a specific version of the game? I wonder if I could link to the Russian version I have (in DM), it needs uTorrent to download and unpack, then Daemon Tools to install and play.
I remember watching someone stream the emulated PS1 version of the game, it had a somewhat different map
@Stinkek When you change difficulty it changes some stuff
i never got any video either in GW on my current machine
The videos are in some ancient format written as .smk. I think the format was called Smacker. I could watch these videos in Media Player Classic on my previous PC, but skipping to another part of such videos or changing their speed didn't work.
@Stinkek @Martyste Tendertail
They are bnk files
And they work fine for me
I think it is because your versions is a rip version?
Just tried opening the videos in GW and MM, they work
They have various channels of audio
I remember dubbing for the GW
Asterix Mega Madness already had the portuguese-brazillian translation, it was just basically porting it to the ps1
@Stinkek Hey, so i've been trying to play GW for serious this time on my old laptop, and for some reason, the phases where enemy romans are added and moved don't appear on screen, while they seem to actually happen!
Do you have anything like that? I'm playing on easy difficulty, an nothing else seems missing. I have the music and all the 2D stuff that the PS1 version didn't want to show on emulator years ago
