I was thrilled from the start

another less dramatic theory about Sam is That Sam is a time traveller from future. He built the very first time machine in the universe and by accident sent himself to 50 B.C. into Asterix dimension. He wasnt expecting it to work so without hesitation and safety concerns he pushed the button and to his own surprise appeared near Gaul. He was a talented polyglot since the birth and managed to find a way to communicate on old forgotten language. The thing is that he needed a fuel for his time machine to comeback to his dimension. He needed exotic matter which helmetz were covered into entirely in asterix dimension which explains why he needs helmets from asterix during the adventure. At the end of XXL story in Rome he rushes to escape since the entire Empire was looking for him and it would have been inevitable catastrophe if people from 50 B.C. would find out about who he really is. That would explode the continuum. He agrees to clean his and Asterix and Obelix memories so they wont put each other into danger which is why in XXL2 they do not recognise each other at the start of the story. After memory cleaning he rushes back to his time machine and tries to fix it but it appears to be that exotic matter energy was so powerful that it explodes the time machine and permanently leaves him there stuck. In XXL2 we can see how he became more advanced and started to move with ropes and advanced gadgets and can see that he finally accepted the fact that he stuck here forever.
