And then when done with the collision, they imported it to Maya, made it nice-looking, added trees, bushes, and export it back to their engine.

Funnily I wanted to try the Unreal 1&2 editor but it never works out of box :LUL: always needs some missing DLL or editor doesn't correspond to game version...
mr.rubinshtein
you can download UT1999 it is prepackaged
mr.rubinshtein
if you really want to try it
mr.rubinshtein
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAZ9Wmg4tYo
mr.rubinshtein
it was made for creating unreal tournament levels
mr.rubinshtein
but like there you just build the shit inside it and you are done
mr.rubinshtein
gosh now i started to hate the XXL developers for using such retarded techniques of going back and forth
pegperegogaucho
Keep in mind XXL Editor is not a modelling program but rather a way to edit the game internals
pegperegogaucho
Obviously the artists at ELB made sure to model in the correct scale so that their finished model of a forest or whatever would look correctly in-game without needing to scale it
mr.rubinshtein
ye i know it is limited to an extent but it also emulates to some extent an engine
adrientd
Also Unreal Editor also has a Textures window :LUL:
adrientd
and you don't need to select some model first...
mr.rubinshtein
hold up there he accessed this window through a texture browser
mr.rubinshtein
this is just as same as a folder in engine
mr.rubinshtein
these textures were premade by devs for modding purposes
mr.rubinshtein
and in your case the editor display every single texture that was used
mr.rubinshtein
if in case of unreal the textures were modular in case of editor its a preview
adrientd
Wdym by "modular"? :UhhChamp:
mr.rubinshtein
modular elements are premade elements that you model in the software and then like a lego snap them all together in the engine
