but when you give people a tool you want them to use
you need to make sure they find way around it
guess i need to come up with a specific setup as well to make it comfortable
You ask me to make the UI more user-friendly, and then you ask me to put shortcuts which are something new users wouldn't even know and are more for advanced users...
no no you didnt get my idea here
you make UI user friendly for newbies and advanced users
you give shortcuts to make these both groups do less useless actions and quickly get to is
you dont have to use shortcuts when you are advanced user or newbie they are just there just in case if you want to use them
both groups use shortcuts in fact but they dont learn everything 100%
they learn shortcuts they need the most and use most of the time
Sure, shortcuts are nice, but not for literally every feature
for example i am working with visuals and it would make sense for me to use texturing/scene graph e.t.c. tabs
i am a newbie and it would be cool for me to popup windows on and off instantly when i am working because i need to see whats going on in viewport
we just so far suggested shortcuts for windows only
there is 98% of editor left without shortcuts
There are already like 20 windows.
There are only 12 F1-F12 keys, and only 26 letters.
And don't forget editor will grow and have more windows in the future
give the people ability to just hit new button and create custom shortcuts that they wish to be
And look, it's literally one mouse click to the button
yeah its one click but when you are switching between windows its too much
i am telling you my experience with editor thats all
I could have understood when before introducing the toolbar, you would always have open the "Window" menu and then click the item you want, in that case a keyboard shortcut would be faster indeed.
