Goddamn DRM
adrientd
At least it wasn't that much different from XXL1
pegperegogaucho
There will probably be DRM protected values for enemies as well
adrientd
Yup, there
adrientd
7 bytes per enemy component
pegperegogaucho
Might as well store entire component in the executable :LUL:
pegperegogaucho
Anyways XXL2 offers much more flexibility when it comes to enemies and squads, I'm tempted to see what you can do :PauseChamp:
mr.rubinshtein
entire game is one big DRM protection
mr.rubinshtein
:Obelul:
pegperegogaucho
Not sure what their thought process was behind it
mr.rubinshtein
it was probably something new in industry
mr.rubinshtein
which is why they added to be fancy

:Obelul:
adrientd
Classes that had DRM values are: the door, the boss, hero, slot machine, Obelix catapult, and the enemy components
adrientd
For the door it was the duration of opening/closing animation, and for the slot machine its price.
pegperegogaucho
That's funny :KEKW: You crack it improperly and the door opens at 0.000001 m/s :LUL:
adrientd
Their intention probably were that if someone would make a crack, they would have to get rid of the DRM code, but that code is essential to get the values needed. If the values are wrong, the game might still run, but things will start to become off :LUL:
adrientd
This is a trick by game devs to make crackers think that their cracks work, and they release it, and then players realize in the game that the slot machines are too expensive, the doors open slowly, enemies are too strong, ...
adrientd
In some way it is to artificially decrease the quality of the game if someone would attempt to crack the game
adrientd
while still keeping it playable at some extent
