I remember when I tried to import UV animations into the editor it crashed and I had to manually do it, I suppose any kind of effect is supported now by the editor?

not sure, the only thing I did recently is parse the MatFXPlg extension but I don't do any change, though it does change the Rw version of the chunks to the game's one, because previously it wouldn't and that could cause a crash
