i wouldnt say its that big
i wouldnt be suprised if most of genz Europeans don't know what it is
It is not popular with younger generations
They don't read comics, let alone books and only get to know about asterix because of the movies
And maybe there is not much overlap between those who read the comics and those who play games
Another problem is that Microids is mainly targetting a casual audience (like families)
And casuals don't often check game reviews, or aren't experienced enough to be able to judge
And probably releasing the games a little bit cheaper than other games with better quality is enough to persuade them to buy their games, while still getting profit
I've recently found out that Asterix in USA is pretty much non-existent, its only folks from EU/Oceania regions know about it
Being an european thing, makes it more known in Europe
Looks like asterix is about to go extinct as a franchise
I wanted to make a Friday Night Funkin’ Mod about Asterix and Obelix but when I asked people if they wanted to join, they didn’t even know who they were. Someone even asked “What in the gamboozles is an Asterix and Obelisk???”
They don’t really know what they are
I don’t want that to happen
There is only one person that knows those two in my fnf mod team
If the franchise really wants to stay relevant they need to do something drastic
Like maturing up the comics to something a bit more serious and story driven
