I don't know if I will contribute to modding Asterix XXL2 in general, but the short story is that I am developing modding tools for Kao2 Engine (Elephant Engine) that was used with many titles by Tate Multimedia *(mostly Kao series, like: "Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2", "Kao Challengers", "Kao: Mystery of the Volcano"; but also other titles, like: "My Horse and Me 2"; "The Saddle Club"; "Urban Trial Freestlye"; and PSP ports like "Asterix & Obelix XXL2: Mission Wifix")*.
So they basically jammed all the stuff from XXL2 into their own engine that was already running well on PSP (so all levels and models are in Elephant Engine format, same with the scripts), made some adjustments and added small touches, like changing Pikmin Statue into Kao Statue.
interesting, we don't have many PSP modders
what tools are you developing?
Currently three things:
• PAK unpacker and repacker - I need to include UNICODE support
• A general editor for viewing levels, models and animations
• A Blender plugin to export custom animations and custom rigged models into Elephant Engine format
we have actually here some PSP fan guys

maybe you could post a screenshot of the level editor
we have one for the PC XXL series too
i would have thought, that Tate would have used KAL
can you imagine how much of this editor is already a contribution
