It's because you have put too many archers
pegperegogaucho
in the config you specify 1 to 5 archers per pool, with 10 to 20 pools, each having a 5% chance of containing archers
pegperegogaucho
And if there are too many archers on screen which fire their weapons, the game will crash
pegperegogaucho
You can reduce the number of arrows the archer fires or make their chance of appearing less.
schmeling65
ah, that was the case
pegperegogaucho
To allow for more arrows there would have to be some more patches applied to the game
pegperegogaucho
But it is honestly too much work for something like that, especially considering too many marchers will make the game unplayable nontheless

So, i haven't gotten to trying the randomizer yet because I have two questions before I do. Why is the exe 25MB?? This should only shuffle some numbers, right? Yet it's like 8 times the size of the game exe? I'm pretty careful with using exes from online. Is it open source?
maribor99
And the readme says the game must not have other mods installed. I have a No-CD mod, don't even know where from anymore, got it ages ago. Is this a problem? I have my actual disc, but it doesn't work to start the game.

Hello @maribor99, I understand your concern. The Randomizer, which is basically a modified XXL-Editor, .exe consists mainly of two parts - The actual code --> Code of the editor --> Code of libraries used by the editor, which are statically linked (their code is not in a .dll) - Resources used by it --> The font of the editor, etc. --- Added by the Randomizer: --> The patched game executable --> Data needed for randomization, these are for example the 3D models and textures of all enemies so they can be put in every level Most of the space is taken up by the resources, in particular the patched game .exe and the "hooks" (enemies) which are put into every level. In reality the code of the editor is actually very small, it is probably only around 1MB without the library code 😃

With other mods I mainly meant UXXL/CC. The No-CD patch is not needed as the Randomizer ships with a custom pre-patched game executable that doesn't require the CD to play so you don't have to worry about that! But if you have a mod installed that modifies the level files (LVL00X/...) there could be compatability problems or softlocks which I did not account for, so you need to be careful when trying that out.
pegperegogaucho
So, in short, only the .KWN files shouldn't be modified since I assume that they're unmodified 👍
maribor99
Okay, sounds plausible. Still gonna try it on my old laptop first, since ya know, you could be telling me anything. :KEKW:
maribor99
Especially careful with mods from google drive links and such. Something like nexusmods is at least somewhat moderated I hope.
deathhound246
The file will likely get flagged by AVs aswell, since it's basically modifying existing files that aren't it's own
maribor99
That's a coomon problem with mods
mr.rubinshtein
You have nothing to worry about, everyone downloaded t already. Paranoia leads to dark places.

The reason I went for google drive is pretty simple: It's free, you can download from there fast and simple (Only click on download and it just downloads), you don't need an account to download and it's probably the most well-known file hoster on the internet
