It needs to be something necessary for progression, otherwise it could be skipped and then you do not have the torch anymore

usually barrels like these would protect either progression of the fat obelixs ass or would contain the catapult gun which in a way actually would be interesting thing to hide there or it quite simply could be just a laurel placement which i would lean more towards

if we consider this area finished i would go with a laurel placement as it would make more sense since you liberated the staircase and its meant to be a memorable place
