Found another softlock, but you have to be trying for it
Surprising oversight by the devs

Should finally be done learning this level today
Some of the practice saves are from two months ago
But I always make a segmented recording of the level with all the strats so I don't forget my anything
Test run saved 2 minutes over contos's... and a minute over my own PB segment ! The level only lasted 5:35 !
And I've got so much more time to save in level 5 and 6.
Sub 45 must be happening
These stages are gonna play out a bit different from the rest. Prior to that point, I was always fighting enemies using normal punches, since it was always faster than air punches.
But in level 5 and 6, the enemy per wave density goes through the roof, and air punches easily become the highest damage source
That and there's no shot I'm learning the palace part of level 5 with land punches. It'll just be a nightmare
I just realized a fight quirk that could be used to save seconds in a load of fights in the game
It's only possible if the fight you're on has a designated area big enough that it doesn't fully display on the screen, where you can scroll the screen.
Usually when you are close to the screen edge where the enemies spawn in, they just spawn off-screen and you can't do anything but wait for them to come out, usually once at a time.
But if you stay sufficiently far away from the edge where they come from. Then they will all spawn relative to your position, which can be well on the screen.
I'm probably not gonna return to the earlier levels to play with this a bit, but I sure will with what's left to learn
Almost done with level 5, only have the tiger section left to go
The slippery ground fights weren't as bad as I thought to speedrun for the most part. And the tigers are a bit more manageable if you're fast enough. I'm definitely not going as fast as someone theoretically could for some of these encounters but that's fine
I should be saving a lot of time compared to my level PB ?
Picking up the pace with this. Level 6's gonna be the longest of them all. And perhaps as annoying to learn and remember as level 1
Someday I'm gonna have to submit my practice save-states for this game because you don't want to be playing through the whole game just to get on some random part of the later levels
Did a level 5 test run.
Contos's any% level 5 was ~~10:50 long.
The one in my PB was 10:06 (so it was barely any faster)
My current one... is a **7:41**
2:25 faster.
And it wasn't a great segment either
So even just with a good level 4 and 5, sub 45 is basically possible.
Thit would be a grind... Thankfully I have the last level left.
And I'm probably gonna save a *lot* of time on that one as well.
So you are still running this game? Did you take a break between running it or nah?
I only did one run so far. Once I learn the last level I will do at least one more, maybe a bunch more after that
Level 6 so far is pretty brutal. I've only done the first room and I fear some of the later sections
The full shielded enemies are very tricky to deal with, there are fast strats to take them down but they're hard to do
