I see, still that would be a time loss
So I just watched the any% WR speedrun of this game, and I was amazed. Some comments :
Idefix time loss it seems.
I've checked this a bit, but to most catapults (that's not what they're called but whatev) all three characters seem to arrive on point.
But a few have to wait for Obelix to come. And this one is the only one where Idefix needs to come.
Is it always the same everytime, or did he get bad luck ?
Since it's possible to have the characters teleport to you, wouldn't it be possible to put them in stuck positions such that they do that and thus come earlier ? But I imagine you already looked into it.
So, are you able to transport yourself anywhere with those wall teleportations ? Can they be done everywhere ?
This section is amazing to watch. That's got to be the hardest trick of the run.
I can't seem to do this on console. Especially when punching in the air. The character just doesn't punch as fast, even more so if you have no combo meter built up. You just fall. Is that only possible on PC ?
Also, are you using a script for spamming the x input, or are you actually mashing ? I don't like to think it's the latter...
I'm utterly amazed that all of the bosses are skippable.
I'm just wondering how you all felt after discovering that managing to skip just one of the fight checks would enable you to unlock any later one, including the whole boss fight.
.
In general, the game seems very challenging to run at top level. You need to execute series of tough strategies across the entire length of each chapters without failing anything, else you get blocked and lose huge time.
If you die, it resets a fight check, and you'll be forced to battle the romans (unless there are back-up skips).
It's also very rare for a game to have a fully linear progression, with no loading-zone or transitions, where things from previous sections get carried up in future ones. Definitely makes for some unusual speedruns.
Idefix gets stuck due to a prior skip - the power hammer one. Idefix is stuck somewhere and arrives late. Alas, if one character is stuck, usually it crashes the game if you hop on the catapult :D
It usually isn't (if you are referring to 5 armies) - it's just that the game can troll you 😅
There is no script, such would not be allowed. You are doing the strat wrong: there is a certain glitch which allows us to keep the combo bar infinitely. You simply build the combo bar, punch a roman (not killing it!) and once you'll keep the fast bashing (under some conditions).
I'm quite amazed you have not mentioned Greece at all 😆
I mean this section and the magic potion driven very precise pole jumping immediately afterward
I just took the timestamp of the most clear example I could find
Okay so it's way more complicated then. Interesting
Thanks for the comments, it's always interesting to read reactions to the speedrun!
While the section in Helvetia with the precise potion jumps looks impressive, the hardest trick of the game for me is the Power Hammer skip in Normandy at 4:38. That skip is unfortunately the reason for Idefix getting stuck before the catapult, so it reduces the time save by five seconds. Another trick that is really hard to learn is the first Egypt fight skip where you jump from the wheel onto the corkscrew.
There's also a ton of backup strats, but one doesn't usually go for those.
Strange, no mention of bank???
oof okay, I was thinking in terms of skips, but yeah, the helmet collection in Normandy is definitely up there xD
I've never heard you say condom is hard, you always get that shit first try 🧐
