I think it's an okay (lower end of okay) game but it should never have been called XXL
Yeah, we deliberately didn't fix it
yeah, recently Heso found out, it had something to do with hitting the ceiling from below ( a floor technically ). Reverse engineering is slowly solving mysteries and even finds us obscure bugs no one paid attention to.
I think this community may have been asked about whether we should fix bugs that allowed speedrunners to skip stuff
i can't remember x(
Braixy's question is interesting because indeed, that one insta-kill fireplace in Egypt gave me as a kid a fear of touching fireplaces for a while.
That doesn't ring a bell, but it's been a long time since then so 🤷
yes Zoé from your team asked us for our opinion on some matters in the old community server 🙂
That didn't happen in OG game ?
I kinda wish i could ask some of my most obscure engine questions to Sylvain Béen, haha!
there were few enough crates to warrant smooth pathfinding. Our editor can show them, and that also allowed us to solve a looong known skip in Rome.
Basically, in Rome's main arena, a check is in place to ensure that both heroes have crossed the gate before activating locks.
I believe the pf cells are too large, so a "well" placed crate can take up several cells, and thus block a path.
Sorry' missed your question, I don't think I know about it, sorry
Do you maybe have a screenshot ?
But Asterix can walk far to the left side of each arena and punch the button to the next room without issue, because he walks into an area where Obelix's pathfinding fails, and he doesn't enter the triggerzone with Asterix.
only when both are detected at once does the lock finally activate.... but we opened the way forward. BoLin found the skip around 2017.
There's many bugs/skips now, it would take a bit to fix them all

shame that i didn't install XXL editor on this laptop, i'd show the exact spot!
For Egypt, the fireplace is locked by romans, and is immediately found after the boat section. A druid is also just next to it.
here's some pics from our discussion
