I tried to discourage adding too many crates, it comes with a lot of issues, especially where you place them.
Yeah, for example behind invisible walls where they cannot be destroyed

some crates ended up out of bounds, Normandy 2nd slide.
Well if you have questions, shoot, I don't mind
Kal probably didn't age too well, but for its time it looked really solid.
oops, I guess QA didn't see that
Our closest thing to it for now, XXL Editor by Adrien, has a decent and easy to use UI... you could see things from our perspective if you want to!
One thing that must be avoided with crates, is placing them too close to walls you can stand on above. It's the perfect recipe for a tardis clip.
Sure, would be interesting to take a look at it
How much debug info is present in the shipped game, do you have names of object for example?
Do you, by any chance, know about that fireplace in Egypt after the boat ride and why it's the only one in the game that instantly kills you ? This is present in every version of the OG and i think even the remaster
crate collision takes priority over wall collision, so you can fall a bit out of bounds, destroy your crate stack to free the memory slot, get another loaded in place, and jump to teleport to it.
the biggest problem with the new crates is how they keep breaking the pathfinding of secondary characters, so Obelix and Idefix won't follow and teleport to you at some point
I'd say that's a pretty good reason to put them near walls 😇
@hesopesomeso get over here! you're our main brain atm, it's you who knows about debug symbols and stuff!
IIRC that's because whenever the game can't find the ground below the player it takes you to the last ground you've been on, which could mean a crates that has been moved somewhere else (because they're pooled to avoid creating and deleting objects)
We have debug symbols for XXL2 (newly found a bunch of weeks ago), but nothing has surfaced for XXL1 as far as I'm aware.
Then a certain stack of crates ( was it? ) in a XXL3 camp should not have received an update, hahaha, we had much fun skipping it!
I've really mixed feelings about XXL3
Yeah, it grabs a dynamic ground
