welp i tried applying the same materials as the ones that comes with the exported model, i still can't get it to work. get a crash when pressing test just like the last attemps. i also messed around with the model ingame to test a few things and see if i could break it the same way/figure out what breaks the model and makes it crash the same way. messing around with the bone structure of the rig, mess around with the model shape, mess around with the weight painting, and then exporting it back into the game doesn't make it crash, even subdividing the model seems to work suprisingly well lol. BUT

if you remove one of the materials of a enemy ( in my exemple i took the tall roman from greece ), the game manage to import it but crashes when you press test. so you were right with the material being the problem. i just can't figure out what *exactly* the problem is with the material, because even with two materials applied on the test model i made, it still crash, something else i must be missing to do.
pegperegogaucho
Can you upload the model again?
pegperegogaucho
You might not be applying the material correctly, or it could also be an issue with the exporter?
pegperegogaucho
I'd love to get this issue adressed.
rat_min
honnsetly it could be... i haven't messed too much with materials appart form when i did my own models. i basicly just opened the Og roman, applied the same material on the test model, and saved the test model in DFF it should be this file.

rat_min
did you have anyone in the past that had a problem with this ?
pegperegogaucho
Okay, this time it seems to be an actual "skill issue". So there are two materials, but no faces are assigned to the second one. Assigning at least one face to the second material fixes the crash. I said that this needs to be done in my original message "and assign at least one face to the material"
rat_min
litteraly embarasing there is only one way out of this thanks god damn

rat_min
Seriously thanks, and sorry for making you repeat that lmao
pegperegogaucho
Yes, but honestly this is not clearly communicated. It even says there are two materials in the editor even though the second one is unassigned and "fake".
pegperegogaucho
Either way this honestly shouldn't be an issue, you should be able to have any amount of materials in the first place but there is probably a good technical reason for it to be like this!
pegperegogaucho
Anyways hopefully you won't have any issues anymore whatsoever!
rat_min
yeah i'll try to apply it as you said , i'll put the second material on the entirerty of the arm or whatever and i'll test If you managed to make it work and i don't do it wrong, i don't see why it wouldn't work on my side now.
rat_min
yeah it works, i tried it once on a small surfare and it didn't work But i RE did it and it worked
rat_min
God damn
rat_min
so i guess it's kinda intersting how it only does this on the enemies then ? i wonder what makes it that way
rat_min
asterix & obelix clearly are not subjected to this problem
pegperegogaucho
It's an issue exclusive to clones
